It's probably one of those giraffe-type upright thingees. It has been stretched though...

Here's my old Thompson upright (built in Chicago in the early part of the 20th century) Never refinished, but has some nice carving on the front.

First we had a piano with an aquarium built into it. Now we have one that is decorated like same - probably easier to keep in tune!
