Wasn't that that FREE one someone posted about on PW a year or so ago??? Some guy wanted to know if he should bring it inside because his girlfriend really wanted a piano and they were destitute. Is that the one?

This was the thread

Nah, it was a different one. I went back and re-read the discussion. The one they found had probably had originally had the pedals on a lyre and the lyre was missing.

But it was in similar condition.

Similar to the "giraffe" piano from page 1, here's a look at the Conover "Pompadour". (who gets to come up with the names?)

What's very cool for me is that we see the back - with the board removed. It appears that it is an overdamper action striking from the back.... where are the tuning pins?!? So to tune/ mute this piano, it needs to be moved away from the wall. Two person job to tune?

I wonder how it sounds to the person playing -- with the soundboard just a few inches in front of one's nose.

And what the heck is it doing sitting on a quiet two-lane road like that??? Some motorcyclist could get seriously hurt, coming around the last corner and hitting a PIANO!

Dawg won't hunt....

You would have to relearn how to play the piano to play this one. The bass is in the right hand and the trebel is in the left!

Hope you didn't pay too much for this one...

I knew that some old pianos have been turned into aquariums, saving them from the landfill.

This one took an old upright player - removed only the player action and installed two fish tanks! You can see the strings behind the lower one, and the action in the top picture. It still is playable, though I bet it would be a chore to tune!!
