Okay. That one's just plain ugly. Looks like one of those fat-calved women crammed into shoes four sizes too small. Or Popeye after eating his spinach.

Isn't my style either. Perhaps a "BUP"? Butt Ugly Piano? It certainly has an obese air to it!

Yep, I do like that one, although the cheek blocks seem narrow for a transposing piano. Now THIS is just plain weird: And if a male Belly Dancer thinks its weird, it's WEIRD!! But then, weird's a GOOD thing!

Nice upright piano for sale. Purchased new 5 years ago and was only used 3 years by our children before they lost interest. We'd like it to go to a loving home that will appreciate and use it. Played when stored, should only need tuning. $1,250/offer. 555-1212

The one at Faust Harrison is finished with a bit more red in the rosewood. It has the best shade and grain pattern of any rosewood I've ever seen, though there's a Chickering in LA that very closely rivals it. To me, rosewood should be finished quite red, like bubinga, though one often sees it in the more drab browns. If I had $187K, I'd want it just to look at everyday. (But for that, I could do the Chickering and buy a nice summer home.) That Bechstein above is very nice. My other pet favorite for grain pattern is quite similar in circassian walnut, an old one-off Bauer that was for sale for $1.5 mil and sold for an undisclosed amount. Another that I'd have loved just to look at. I love nice wood with good contasting grain patterns and there's nothing more beautiful to show off that pattern than a piano. Who needs to collect statues if you could collect pianos? I have a CD with about 600 MB of various pianos including that Bauer. I suppose it's about time I dug it out and started contributing. I'll look for the CD tomorrow. Meantime, here's the nicely-red rosewood Chickering 8'2" that I covet in LA. Here's a picture of detail of the Bauer I was able to retrieve from my e-mail to a friend who is my supplier of fine woods I never have the courage to cut after I get them. I sent it to him to see if he could scrounge me some pieces of this stuff:

I'd love to get my hands on that CD! Is it something that can be copied? I'd be happy to pay costs... Or trade the above "lightly used" upright...

Now THIS, on the other hand, is "Phat"!

I like the "Phat" one. It reminds me of a very dignified and ornate toad, a positive burgermeister of toads.
