Yea, I'm definately partial to uprights - although there's nothing wrong with a good grand! Like that powder blue one you just posted - I'd LOVE to have it. It seems there is more that can be/is done to make uprights "unusual", so "unusual" uprights are easier to find.

My alltime favorite piano is that "Napoleon" upright on one of the early pages of this thread, the somewhat sinister looking burlwood creation with the curvy top - looks like a warped piano from another dimension. My wife took one look at that photo and said "BUY IT!" Unfortunately, it is certain that it is beyond our means - but no-one seems to know anything about it, just that pictures of it have been floating around the 'net for awhile.

I'd love to see your 1915, here's our very ordinary 1918 Hobart M. Cable (ex-)player:

It will eventually get at least a LITTLE bit fancier - we're planning a painted window illuminated from the inside (with LEDs so heat won't be an issue) to replace the player doors. I'm also toying with the idea of a color organ (LEDs again) in the bottom door - open the door when you want it, close it when you don't!

One of my dance sisters is an exquisite artist, and will be painting the "window" for us, and maybe, just maybe, some filigree on the cabinet as well - some roses or something - before we refinish it. We'll see...

I can't believe you guys can keep this thread going. ThumbsUp Your piano may be ordinary, but it's very, very handsome.

Psst, Zorba, there's a secret message for you over in the Off Key thread.

Clementi ca 1820.

Whenever I see this picture, I expect that those curtains will open, and Punch and Judy will appear. That could be very unnerving while playing.

Why does this picture look like some bad Photoshopping?

BTW, not sure what make, but it IS as "square grand". Note how it has four legs in a rectangular pattern.

It's probably one of those giraffe-type upright thingees. It has been stretched though...

Thanks, Zorba for giving me a break from digging for pictures!

Some of these old ones have amazing wood graining!
This one is before the finish was applied:
