Here's my old Thompson upright (built in Chicago in the early part of the 20th century) Never refinished, but has some nice carving on the front.

I like this one, an old Pleyel. Note the "coffin handle" on the end:

Does anyone know the story of the piano of Cherbourg? I would love to find the full story of it. I think my old teacher told me about it. It was about a grand piano that survived bombing in WWII and the Allied Troops hauled it around for awhile. I believe it is restored and in a museum somewhere in Europe - probably France. Hoping someone knows more about it. I tried googling it, but could not find anything. Maybe it's just a myth.

First we had a piano with an aquarium built into it. Now we have one that is decorated like same - probably easier to keep in tune!

I've been searching the internet, but haven't been able to find anything. It is a fascinating story. HOpefully someone around here will have heard of it too. I may ask on PW as well.
