I think of myself as mixed race even if the status category I fit and duly mark on the forms is-- White, Non-Hispanic.

There's a lot of symantics involved in race and ethnicity typologies imho.

I think of myself as 1/2 Semitic I
and 1/2 Indo-European.

I can assure you that is a mixture.

My Scotch Irish relatives in NC (save my grandmother's sister!) never accomplished me or my brown skin.

I think I have Persian and Chinese blood too but I haven't found it worth my time or resources to take a DNA test.

Yeah, the status categories don't make a lot of sense.

I had loverfriend at school who first introduced me these complexities. He was mostly Cuban and also from the Carnary Islands. He wasn't a happy camper about standardized race and ethnicity categories.

I think the problem some people have (I don't care myself; I've moved past it and there are many more important things happening in the world) is that she changes her accent for her audience.

And she's not double about doing it.

It can be a little disconcerting to hear at first especially since you can flip through YouTube channels and hear her different accents in rapid succession.

She's certainly not the only politician who does it.

I am not "woke" but I believe individuals have the right and prerogative to define these matters for themselves.

That's my bottom line on this subject.

I had a [lover] friend at school who was 3/4 Scandinavian and 1/4 American Indian. Wow, was he beautiful.

And I lived among met and knew mixed race people in Hawaii. Wow, they were beautiful.

It's the white people-- the ones who put on affections of mixed race people that I could barely tolerate.
