Neither. It's the AF ... D. Yes autofocus, no silent-wave or VR. Not sure where I got it, maybe it was part of the markj package. It sez Made in Japan. How do I find it? I look in the camera bag. Srsly, I like it a lot. I haven't looked myself, but Ken Rockwell notes that the rearmost element doesn't move when it focuses. Makes me wonder if it will be all wonky with tubes. I'll try it later this week. My Nikonian cellmate was grousing about how much he spent on his VR version... and that he is thinking about getting the 200 micro. I'm sure it's a couple grand. He apparently has more money than he knows what to do with. My point wasn't that developing is expensive, it's that without the sooper high zoot bulk back, you could shoot 20 or 36 frames, rewind, reload, and shoot some more. I just set the D70 on continuous and rattle off a couple dozen frames, wait for the next bee to arrive and rattle off a dozen more. Then leaf through them on the computer to find a handful worth showing. It's very Darwinian.

I MUST get a kayak! Just down the road from me. Decided to stop by today... it's just off the main road, Spectacle Pond. So heavenly peaceful there.

Bernard, that looks so peaceful. Perfect place to kayak. (I like flatwater kayaking...)

Wonder why there are 5 power boats after reading that sign. Very peaceful looking pond.

I grew up on a lake where gas motors were prohibited. LL, given how small those motors are, I would guess they are electric (battery) operated (or they have a permit ) And Bernard, when you get a kayak, let me know! I can throw mine on the roof and join you.

choochiefingers took some nice photos during our visit to the Boston Museum of Fine Arts with a famous visiting writer. Strangely, we didn't take any pictures of quilts, which is why we went, or people.

Another two for beelady. I was playing around with the 300mm lens and extension tubes. On its own, the closest this lens will focus is 9 feet. With 68mm of extension tubes, it gets down to about two feet. I think the Micro Nikkor 105mm is a much better setup. With the 300mm, any vibration is magnified, so even on the tripod with the self-timer, half of the pictures had a bit of horizontal shake. Mind you, the lens is on the tripod and the camera is hanging off the back of the lens. Oh, and the D600 won't shoot with this combination. It keeps telling me the aperture is not set correctly. So, these were taken with the D70. Out of a couple dozen shots, I only got a few that were worth sharing...
