Whaletone – an instrument of perfection, a universe of infinite musical possibilities…
Whaletone is an advanced digital stage piano that combines high-end musical components with the exquisite beauty of form – spectacular yet elegant, monumental, yet dynamic.
It is an interpretation of the shape of a classic grand piano in the language of modern design. Inspired by the majestic beauty of marine mammals, it is a unique fusion of greatness and subtlety.
A real breakthrough, designed for both stage and private performances, fully bespoke, Whaletone by Robert Majkut was created to meet the requirements of both music and design lovers. It’s a dream of excellence that came true.

Whaletone

It comes in colors, too:

quote:
Whaletone contains a flagship model of Roland stage piano with a built-in list of 500 sounds. Most of all, it is an instrument generating incredibly authentic sound of a string piano, thanks to the SuperNATURAL Piano technology with three sound types: Concert, Studio and Brilliant of 30 variations at choice, and also electric pianos based on SuperNATURAL technology of 10 types and 15 variations. It guarantees the highest quality, enriched with elements which are key for professional musicians, like smooth and natural timbres increasing the authenticity, speed and response to pushing the keys, soft transition through dynamics level without unnatural looping of samples. Besides the phenomenal and natural sound of a classic grand piano, Whaletone offers the complexity of programmed tones of vintage models from the 1960s and 1980s, different sounds variations, and possibility of creating new sounds. All is controlled by the comfortable PHA III Ivory Feel keyboard with escapement imitating the real hammering of the classic grand piano keyboard, giving the identical feeling of playing, with all subtleties and sound effects, perfectly conveying the dynamism, reacting to all details and changes of timbres dependent on the impact. The Sound Focus function enables strengthening the expression and audibility of even subtle pianissimo passages.
Ivory Feel surface prevents the player’s fingers from slipping and gives an impression of playing on a classical instrument.
The programmable buttons and One Touch Piano function give instant access to previously programmed sounds. The built-in display can control the sound settings including 242 normal sounds, 10 organ Tone Wheel sounds, 265 GM2 sounds, 5 rhythmical sets, and 9 GM2 rhythmical sets.
The piano is equipped with Master MIDI control features plus four MIDI ports (MIDI IN, MIDI OUT x 2, MIDI OUT/THRU) and Balanced XLR outputs, USB ports for data storage and audio-play functionality, as well as headphones output.
Additional options, like a CD player, V piano card upgrades, software adding sound modules, LED display, internal sound processor with equalizer, and other individually chosen appliances, Whaletone may be adjusted to personal requirements, configurations, and preferences.

This rimu piano, (Rimu is a lovely new Zealand wood) made in Dunedin by Charles Begg, is said to have been the first piano manufactured in New Zealand. It was awarded a medal at the 1865 New Zealand Exhibition in Dunedin.
