I am impressed Wim!

Could you share more? Why 'it'? How did the purchase come about? What do you think now? What are its characteristics that you like, dislike etc?

I am so curious.

LL

Wim, there are some more Rippens here, including a surprising Gold plated one. Also Mr Rippen was quite the innovator as you will also see by his folding grand piano, also shown. I'd be quite interested to read impressions of your own AluRip as well... One thing that intrigues me, since as I understand it, the whole piano case and frame are made from Aluminium, does this mean the tuning pins are still set in a conventional wooden plank, I guess they would have to be. Does the tuning issue come from the expansion of the light Aluminium? How much does it weigh? And what is the length?

I wonder if there are any teachers from Dr Johnen's tuition approach using his methods, I might be tempted to give it a try!

From a recent PW post -

The National Music Museum in, of all places, South Dakota! IT is truly a musician's history of musical instruments.

The slide show takes a moment to load - it is worth the hesitations.

ALL instruments from around the world!

Example:

There is a person on PW, feeble, who visited the museum and posted his pictures here:

Who ever would have thought of displaying pianos by laying them on their side...
