I'll repost this for anyone who might be ignorant of international law regarding Israel's genocide.

I've been binge-rewatching The West Wing, a terrific show which ran from 1999 to 2006; guessing most here will remember it.
Series 5 Episodes 21&22 and S6 #1 are about Gaza. They are interesting historically giving a 2004 perspective.

So a delegation is sent to visit Gaza. One line spoken by a rather lovable, phlegmatic, newly retired Admiral in response to the inevitable points of view being argued was memorable:

"You know after fifty years one option might be to get over it"

But no, here we are 20 years on.

BTW, the raisons d'être behind the questions-- "Does Israel have the right to exist?," and, "Does Israel have the right to defend itself?" are part of this presentation if they are of interest to anyone.

This man is a monster.

And, his contention that Hamas has been militarily defeated let alone everywhere but Rafah is a complete and utter lie.

Israeli civilian hostages are still being held by Hamas war criminals in Gaza, for more than six months now, in military underground centres. Israel is also being attacked daily/almost daily by Hamas/Hezbollah terrorists from southern Lebanon and the west bank.

I still have every sympathy with Israel and support fully the rescue of hostages by any and all military action.
They are obviously losing the propaganda & world opinion war against the Palestinian terrorists.

The sooner Rafah is taken and the remnants of the war criminals are effectively wiped out or neutralised, the better. There are perhaps some 5000 fighters remaining of the Palestinian terror army.

I understand why the whole situation is more than distressing. Innocent people are dying, including many children.

Israel didn’t start this, though . . . unless someone doesn’t believe in Israel’s right to exist, and if that’s the case, I don’t wish to converse with that person.

And I cannot stomach the flat out liars . . . the people, for example, who say that Israel has completely surrounded Gaza while ignoring the fact that Gaza has a border with Egypt. There is a way out of Gaza that doesn’t involve going through Israel . . . but Egypt won’t allow it.

ETA: before anyone gets upset, I am not aware that anyone here has said such a thing. I have, however, seen people say it as part of this debate.

Nobody could possibly want the influx of a million refugees containing a significant proportion of Islamic extremists.

It's all pretty quiet really:

The only person in the U.S. who I’ve seen talking about turning Gaza into Israeli settlements is Jared Kushner, who thinks it would make a great beach resort.

Living adjacent to millions of people who want you dead is a problem, but Israel should be used to living with that problem by now.

BTW, Iran has just launched waves of drones at Israel, and will possibly time a wave of ballistic missiles using the drones as a distraction.

Waves of Drones

Jordan has closed its airspace to aircraft, presumably to avoid accidents.

I don't know if Israel will bother calibrating anything. They may simply begin lobbing ballistic missiles at Revolutionary Guards targets. If Iran actually hits anything, I would not be at all surprised if Israel responds with airstrikes directly on Iranian nuclear and political sites.

What fun ... Frowner

As Churchill said, "Meeting jaw to jaw is better than war." But that requires an opponent who basically looks at the world the same way you do.
