Anyone ever see the Steven King mini-series "The Stand"?

Anyway, I just got home Saturday night -- late -- after being out of the country for three weeks. I went to Costco yesterday. It looked like a swarm of locusts had been through and picked the place clean. Hardly any fresh fruit. No regular tomatoes or cucumbers. No white eggs. The only bread was a few bags of ciabattas and something labeled "KETO LOAF". I ended up going to another store to get some bread and things. Oh, and there were two guys at the entrance to Costco wiping down the handles of the carts.

Earlier in the day, I hit the big Japanese grocery. Normally they have a couple hundred bags of rice piled up by the door. All gone except a few bags of off-brand brown rice.

Clearly, people are panicking.

The two deaths were both in my area. I hadn't even heard about the second one until I got back from Costco.

I did see a bit of a news conference on CNN while at O'Hare. Some doctor in King County stepped up to the podium and the first thing he did was cough several times.

I caught a cold when I was in Addis Ababa last week, but it doesn't fit the profile of corona.

The one thing to be concerned about is that apparently the virus can survive for a couple days on surfaces. I don't see how hand sanitizer is going to help.

I just got an e-mail from my dentist:

From Your Dentist

Good afternoon,

If you have had any cold or flu-like symptoms, we ask you to please call us to reschedule your appointment until your symptoms are completly gone for two weeks. We also ask that if you plan on travelling internationally or have traveled recently to please make your appointment at least two weeks after your return date. We appreciate your help in keeping our office a healthy environment, thank you.

Well, I just got back from an international trip. I guess I won't be going to the dentist for at least two weeks.

Of course as things turn out, you might not have wanted to visit with me, as my town has two confirmed cases of coronavirus and some other people who are quarantined....

I am so sorry. I didn't think of it and I didn't connect you with Chicago. I have some cousins who live somewhere in the greater Chicago area, but I have been out of touch with them for decades. I had a NINE HOUR layover at ORD. But really, all I wanted to do was take a nap after the 15 hour flight from Addis Ababa.

Next time.

Hey, Mr jodi has been in Seattle since Saturday and he didn't call me.

It’s one of my favourites as well. I got away from King for awhile, but I’ve really enjoyed his more recent stuff!

This!! I am struggling to stop. Probably because I’m super aware of it.

I’ve been chewing my fingernails for about 65 years! How to stop now?
