Them (last Thursday): “Our CFO suddenly left, and we need someone to fill-in for a month or two. Can you help us?

Me: ”Sorry, but no. I am happily living in Reno, and I’m not currently willing to even take a short trip to Los Angeles.”

Them: “We will let you work from Reno.”

Me: “I prefer not to, I am really happily, completely, 100% retired. I would like to help, because I like you guys, so please consider me a last resort.”

Them: “You start Monday…”

Well, crud. I blame this on them having several months of practice having people work remotely because of Covid. I hope we don’t do a lot of zoom stuff, because I don’t want to be combing my hair and putting on long pants every day.

+1

Just get really, really good at using "mute/unmute" and "start/stop video."

If you angle your camera correctly, you won't have to worry about wearing pants. You won't even have to button your shirt all the way to the bottom--just to about mid-chest will work. Wink

Good suggestions about the camera and the pants and so forth.

Now, what do I do about the fact that I don’t really want to do any work anymore?

If anything, you spent more time here when you were “working.” Retirement has been a distraction for you. I hope you’ll now be able to be more focused on your efforts here.

The hardest part I find about working is having to take a shower and look presentable before noon. Of course, this was true pre-COVID as well.....

Just be mindful of that when you get up to go grab another beverage out of the fridge.
