I'm guessing it was removed. I can see buttons on the lid for resting it, so it must have had it originally.

Strike 1: Its a continental.
Strike 2: It has a one piece fall board
Strike 3: Its not woodgrain (I like white grands, but not white (or black) uprights).

I doubt that you'd like this one... even with the wood grain!

I've never watched someone tune with the lever in this position.

Check out the protective bumpers on the side of the piano.

And he's using the good ol' Strobe-O-Tuner, to boot.

The D that was sitting in the middle of the foyer at Steinway Hall last June had those skids on it as well. Pretty convenient that that is on what is normally the upstage side of the piano, eh?

That's the side that always gets *bumped* into the wall. Keeps the hinges and the overhang protected.

He's using a SAT (Sanderson Accutuner - the only mainstream tuning machine I haven't tried!)

No explanation is possible for what was done to this poor Steinway:

I think I'd rather have that continental!

FWIW, Quirt and I bought our pianos from Dave Sanderson (the son of the inventor of the Acutuner).
