Let's do a thought experiment.

Suppose a campus group of anti-gay "conservatives" protests loudly on campus. They walk the campus shouting and holding up signs saying "kill all the homos." Would Harvard allow that as free speech or would the school's authorities institute disciplinary actions (up to expulsion) against students in the group. I would put money on the latter. That's Stefanik's point, and the presidents failed miserably in finding the right response.

Now suppose that the group doesn't chant "kill the homos." Instead, they have an inside-the-group code phrase that they (and everyone else with a brain) knows means the same thing as "kill the homos." In fact, the group has published documents explaining their aims in detail, including that their inside phrase really means physically eliminating gay people. The phrase that they chant on campus is now ...

"L - G - B - T Mi-nus"

They claim they're just objecting to the rising power of gay people over the culture and the "minus" is just a call to eliminate pro-gay cultural representations and to end the "demonization" of cis people.

I'm gonna bet that Harvard still goes after the group for creating a hostile environment and for harassment targeting a specific protected group.

Echoing P*D, I don't see myself as ever voting GOP again. They can't be trusted. Something happens to even a "moderate" member of the GOP once they're elected, and suddenly they fall in line behind ridiculous agendas like shutting down the government, refusing to appoint military, supporting a complete ban on abortions, etc. It will only get worse if/when Trump is elected. If they have no spines now, they will be jelly in a Trump regime. And yes, I use the term regime deliberately.

I don't trust any of them.

A section of the left has always supported Palestine.

This fact can not be news to anyone posting here.

It might be news that people still do so after Hamas cut off women's breasts and drove nails through their genitals. After they burnt people alive. After they tortured hostages.

To me, there is a vast difference between collateral damage during a war and deliberate, sadistic cruelty.

Others may not see that difference.

I take Wapo not the Times. Cannot see what she is trying to correct.

After two decades of wrangling, it seems we are now mostly centrists. The problem is the center didn’t move - the ends did on both right and left.

If you can have a serious policy discussion without resort to ideological bullsh!t and name calling you're now a centrist. Big Grin

Sad but true.

As a side note, I’m really enjoying having the quote and edit icons here on my phone.

From which river to which sea ...

From the Wall Street Journal. Not a scientific sample, but given the known ignorance of most Americans, even the supposedly educated ones, entirely believable.

Many of the slogan chanters thought Yasser Arafat was the first prime minister of Israel. ROTFLMAO Roll Eyes

I put emojis, but "idiotic twits" is more how I feel.

In case anyone is still interested in how things are moving on the ground ...

The Israelis seem to be taking a page from Finnish tactics in the Russo-Finnish war. When your enemy is arrayed in a long line (sort of like the Gaza strip's geography), slice that line in half to disconnect enemy forces. Then slice the halves in half, creating smaller pockets that the Finns called motti. These isolated pockets can then be eliminated one by one.

See the subsection on "Motti" here

Please shrink.

You should look up the word, "collateral." You did miss the part where the Prime Minister, top military leaders, and politicians openly said that the huge death toll and number of civilians causalities is, "intentional."
