Yes, this is correct. But you can set up a co-host in advance, when you make the meeting id, just enter Mrs. PJ's email address (there will be a spot for it near the very bottom). I am sure it will be fine, even with the cell phone! Good luck!

Yes, the “original sound” thing is important if you want to capture music. By default Zoom will optimize audio recording for human speech, meaning Zoom will try to filter away sound that is “not speech”. The “original sound” setting basically tells Zoom to not bother with speech-centric filtering and just record all sound as-is.

The service is tomorrow. I did a few dry runs. My phone picks up ALL of the ambient noise in Original Sound mode. I asked very very nicely and the church is allowing me to tape down an extension cord so I’ll be using my laptop and external webcam. I borrowed a USB mic with a cardioid pickup pattern. That will help. I will have one hour to get everything set up and running before people start coming in. Wish me luck.

Does Zoom automatically capture the list of participants? If not, how can I do that?

I think I set it, but is there a setting for “only host can unmute participants”? Keep everyone’s video off, as well?

Scroll down to "options" and click on "show" Hmm, not there. Take a look anyway, but I think maybe the options you want aren't available in a regular meeting. Let me check.

If you want to prevent anyone from unmuting or turning on their video, you may need to have it set as a webinar rather than a meeting. Otherwise, you have to hope that people will do what you ask (i.e., in the meeting, they will have the option to unmute and turn on video once they've joined)

Ah. no, you should be good: "Mute all Participants and Prevent them from Unmuting: During the meeting, click on “Participants” in the Zoom meeting control bar. At the bottom of the participants panel click “Mute All.” Then, uncheck the “Allow participants to unmute themselves” to prevent participants from talking in the meeting."

you should be able to similarly be able to prevent video in the participants menu, select "stop video."

Super! Thanks! I was looking for something in the settings when you create the meeting. There are controls so that a participant has to allow the host to mute/unmute. This is the other way. I’ll try it in my test meeting when I get set up on site.

You folks are awesome. I never would have known about Original Sound if I hadn’t co-hosted a music event before. Now I wonder if my banjo teacher turned that on for me when we were doing our lessons by zoom. Does that change everyone’s audio to original, or just the one person who sets it?
