Ding. Actually, I'm in the aiport in Vancouver now, on my way home after a week in Manila.

I didn't see any of the envelopes or folders, though.

Wanna try the one at the bottom of the previous page?

Cherry blossoms. In late October. Doesn't sound like Japan to me.

Today is dump day. They compactor shed is getting more and more interesting every week. Nothing goes to waste! You should see the inside! Lounge chair, AC, TV! All from the dump!

The Windsor jail was closed this summer after 89 years. This weekend it was open for tours. The last inmates were moved in August, so there are still a lot of very personal remnants. The graffiti got to me most of all.

Then it must be somewhere in the Southern Hemisphere. Perhaps New Zealand?

Doffo Winery and motorcycle museum. Pretty cool stuff and very good ($$!) wine)

I think this little thing must be electric. It's tiny:

Possibly the ugliest piece of machinery ever to come out of Italy:

Especially on a Honda Metropolitan. You can't take anything seriously when you are riding something that looks like it was made by Fisher-Price.

After T-dinner with some friends we drove up to Idyllwild for the weekend. Stayed in a funky WPA/CCC era-looking RV Park that is probably newer than that but has all the charm - big lodge, amphitheater, huge trees. 7500 ft. elevation - crisp.

Bitter cold but we braved the snow (Days were actually in the 60's):

It's a pretty typical mountain tourist town with all the usual shops. There's a distinct hippie vibe to this one though - a lot of the shop owners are real characters (the guy who runs the leather goods shop lives in a tee-pee - year round). Lots of crystals and tea shops and weird artwork.

They've put these deer all over town and each one is painted differently:

No mountain town is complete without at least one of these old trucks. This one is remarkably complete and even though it has not been driven in a very long time it's worth a small fortune to a collector as it is a rare combination of top-line trim and 4 wheel drive:

Highlight of the trip was their tree lighting ceremony, complete with strolling carolers in Victorian costume and a bunch of local kids on stage singing Christmas songs. 100' fir tree - beautifully shaped:

Joyeux Noel! ThumbsUp

Beautiful tree. And the deer look like they should be 'in presence' under it!

We were at Costco today and spotted this girl. The fuzzy one on the floor, that is.

At first we didn't pet her because we're used to respecting working service dogs who shouldn't be distracted. Then we saw the Comfort Dog "Please pet me" on her harness.

She has her own FB page (from which I obtained the photo):
