I have a Jamaican coworker who had straightened her hair. She had a serious health scare almost 2 years ago and immediately chopped off all her damaged hair. We all love it!..It is so much more feminine, easy for her and she is rockin' it. Now and then she tints the tips..sometimes a blond, sometimes red...It looks great! No matter the race, straight or curly, I prefer natural hair. From one who refuses to color her hair..I earned every gray hair I have.

If you were interested, you might give them another try. I have astigmatism so I have to have a special weighted contact lenses. Also, there are many brands that I cannot wear. So nowadays they give you trial pairs of several different brands in your prescription and you take them home and decide if any of them work. One interesting thing is that I cannot wear daily contact lenses. My eyes immediately get dry and I am miserable. I half I have to wear monthly lenses. The main value for me is sports.

My eyesight has been terrible since 5th grade. Started hard contacts lens in high school many years ago. In the 90’s got lasix done. Freedom! Only problem was I had it done with mono vision (one eye to see close and one eye to see far). Great in general, but terrible for tennis! I would see the ball clearly leave the racket of my opponent and suddenly arrive clearly in my court. Back to contacts for tennis!

Exactly the same scenario here! I never got over the feeling of having something in my eye. They made me miserable. I also wore them for about 6 months around my (first) wedding and then never again.

Good for you, Cindy. You’ll look great! I’m going the other way, actually—I never colored my hair until a few years ago, and now I have to do the maintenance...much more fuss than I’ve ever done before. I even started curling it. Go figure. Mine is straight and long so if I curl it it’s straight again within a few hours.

Well, I did it! I reached the point where I hated how my hair looked while I grew it out way more than I hated the uncertainty of how I would feel if I cut it off. Oldest Sphinx and Middle Sphinx (who drove up from North Carolina) decided we should make a day of it. First, brunch with Mimosas. Here we are on our way. Brunch So after having no chemical straightening for 5.5 months, and after doing some research to find someone who does natural black hair, and after checking Yelp reviews, I did it. I cut off all of my straightened hair (something known as the "Big Chop"). https://drive.google.com/open?...X2lwLXZkVDVwLVhLNFh3 The earrings are my Mother's Day gift from the girls.

Wonderful! A big step, and so worth it! (Hair is a big deal to me. I’m afraid to chop it off.)
