Chopin Statue In Shanghai's Zhongshan Park 197th anniversary of Chopin's birth March 3, 2007 in Shanghai, China... The Chinese Association in Poland and the Polish Research Institute of Chopin commissioned the building of the statue in 2003. Some 100 music fans play pianos during the unveiling ceremony. Shanghai's Zhongshan Park in the city's downtown area, is planning to build an open-air concert hall to go with the statue of Chopin.  6m high - The two-and-a-half-tonne bronze sculpture was designed by the Chinese artist Lu Pin, a graduate of the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts in Poland.  | |||
