I LOVE THIS!

Do we have any more info? a date? location?
[/QUOTE]

I love it even more now! And the enlarged photo shows that the person on the horse is also a young boy. There is a wagon in the background right. The house and especially the barn are not in the greatest condition so a piano being purhcased must have been a BIG DEAL!

I don't quite understand why the wagon is facing away from the house though! And where is someone to help unoload this thing?

I followed up on a rec'pt of old Wentworth upright that was in great grandfather's home on a farm in NH. It was purchased in Boston in from the piano factory (one of many in the area near The Current Flower Market District). It had to be delivered to Charlestown in a horse and buggy on cobblestone streets and over the bridge. Must have been quite a project. The moved to NH later, again in a horse drawn buggy, most likely. YIKES!

Unless 44 keys each, I can't see two...comparing length to width and size of people....

Did one piano come in two parts?

LOL!

I still can't figure out why they are going in the wrong direction, and NOT on a road to the farm. ????

Gordon Monahan - Two Pianos Talking to Each Other

Several long piano strings are connected to two pianos standing approximately 100 feet apart. Audio signals are fed into the long piano strings using vibrating coils attached to the wires. The piano string vibrations are amplified by contact to the piano soundboards. The sounds heard coming from the pianos, which originated as audio signals, are amplified entirely acoustically by the piano soundboards and strings, so that we are able to listen to audio recordings without using loudspeakers.

Model Theophil Hansen
Concert Grand designed by Theophil Hansen
This special instrument was built for the world exhibition in Paris 1867. The wife of Napoleon III, Empress Eugenie fell in love instantly. So the empress of Austria - Sisi donated this instrument to her. Then Napoleon took the instrument with him to his exile in London. 1978, Sotheby's offered the instrument and the sister of the King of Jordan bought it in the auction.

Piano with no Pin Block

If you have a Wegman, DO NOT sell it. It is worth keeping just for the tuning pin arrangement.

This is quite the ornate piano. I love the open fretwork at the front, both top and bottom for the tone to come forward. Upright currently should have that feature as well.
