The 2.2m Stuart - all 102 notes of it "I visited the Stuart & Sons Piano factory in Newcastle to play their latest pianos - and let me tell you these are something to behold. These are the world's only currently manufactured 102-key grand pianos. The new Reference series Stuart & Sons Concert Grand Piano (2.9m) and Studio Grand Piano (2.2m) have pushed the frequency boundaries for the acoustic piano to the limits CCC (or C0) @ 16.3516Hz to f5 (or F8) @ 5587.6517Hz." http://cjmoore.blogs.exetel.com.au/

I wonder if all those extra notes on the Stuart actually get played or are the strings just there for sympathetic overtones?

That is incredible. I so appreciate all the intricasies, but they are not needed so much on an instrument. I wonder what the wood is and where this will end up.

"In 2009 Hailun entered the market for luxury-case instruments by commissioning a one-of-a-kind concert grand. Named "Dreams of the East," the instrument's rim was created from a single piece of Chinese rosewood. After the Music China Fair, Hailun’s hand-carved concert grand, called Dreams of the East, sold to a Chinese businessman for $347,000" http://www.pianobuyer.com/pages/183.html http://www.thefreelibrary.com/...estic...-a0217814047 http://www.hailun-pianos.com/blog/ http://hailun-pianos.com/press...c_Trades_Article.pdf http://www.hailun-pianos.com/engineers.php http://www.hailun-pianos.com/company.php

Atjoli Crystal “the piano with a Crystal Glass Soundboard” A piano with a glass soundboard has the following assets: * A glass soundboard makes the piano insensible to temperature (fluctuations), atmospheric humidity and pressure; * The sound stays warm, but is more homogeneous and has a higher clearness; * The sound does not distort; * The tones keep sounding on longer; * Almost 25 seconds (compared to 15 seconds with a wooden soundboard); * The application of a glass soundboard instead of the laborious wooden one, makes the production of pianos and grand pianos easier; * Glass is environment-friendly. http://www.atjoli.nl/crystalsoundboard.html
