People wonder whether they plan to have more, whether the boys are identical (no), was it vaginal birth (no). No one has asked why they didnt abort one, two, or the whole pregnancy (they decided they would continue until there was a medical reason not to. Since OS works and husband is primary caregiver, some people warn how his career will never recover and neighborhood moms will shun him.

But is a lot of fun, for me, anyway. Any time you walk in a room, you can scoop up a baby.

Oh, and they brought their australian shepherd. So that's 4 adults, three infants, 2 high energy dogs.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

I'm glad things have turned out so well, especially when I know how worried you must have been about her and about them.

I'm so happy for all of you!

When my kids were little and I was the primary caregiver, the moms didn’t shun me, but I was conscious in many (but not all) cases that I wasn’t treated in the same way. Another stay-st-home dad had the same experience. And one or two wouldn’t let their kids have playdates at my house, because (so I was told) I could be a potential child molester, and they couldn’t take the chance.

I now have four grandchildren. I have to say I’m glad they don’t live in my house! The noise alone would put me over the edge. But I do love when they visit for a few days, either here or at the lake, and they will all be here with their parents and Martha’s adult kids for Christmas.

Congratulations on the growing family. I can well imagine how you could be beset by nosy questions - as the National Inquirer said, "Inquiring Minds Want to Know."

An encounter my wife and I had in Australia many years ago with a complete stranger is what always comes to mind when I think of nosy people. We were out shopping and I was pushing our older daughter who was about two at the time in a stroller while my 4-1/2 year old son held onto the side of the stroller and my wife was carrying our infant daughter in a Snugli baby carrier on her chest. A lady looked at us trying to maneuver through the mall and said to us, "Don't you have television?"

I was born gay for a reason.
Nieces and nephews have been quite enough.
I did give my young adult relatives some free advice once.
I told them to never take a sleeping pill and a laxative at the same time.

Let’s just say that this year has been wild. OS became pregnant with spontaneous triplets. They were born healthy in August (2 boys and a girl), and the whole family of five moved in with Mr. Sphinx and me. The time and expense ($500 a month on formula to supplement breastfeeding) is overwhelming, so we’re glad we can help.

What’s been most bizarre is the way other people behave. We get the full rundown of intrusive questions from total strangers, like is the father going to get a vasectomy. Is my daughter going to have more kids. Are they test tube babies. People stare and gawk to the point that my introverted daughter doesn’t even like taking them out.

So, just a public service announcement: Just smile at them and, you know, maybe get the door?

Cindy (having a blast and not too introverted to answer questions from you all)

Congratulations all around, Cindysphinx! Wow.

I'm shocked at "$500 a month on formula...". What do they make it with!?

Yeah, there's a lot of rudeness in these here states.

For sure that’s an astonishing amount to pay for formula, but I’m not up on these things.

I will weigh in with my opinion that, should anyone express unsolicited opinions, that our Cindysphinx is more than capable of analyzing such statements quickly and dealing with them appropriately.

As she should. As she will.

Bravo!

If anyone wants a pic, pm me. Just not permitted to post any on internet.

They just hired a nanny, of sorts. They found an au pair who will work off the books for $17/hour. She will be a parents helper, just an extra set of hands 1 or 2 times a week.

With my daughter and me working and me sometimes traveling, there are times when we are short handed. And we’re getting to the point when it is impossible to hold more than one. Then there are dogs, laundry, groceries . . . It’s a lot.

Maybe this isn't such an expensive price, considering it's divided by 30 days, divided by three babies, divided by 3 meals (that part's arbitrary)...

Which isn't to say that having to pay for it isn't a burden!!

Cindy, glad you'll have some help! I can only imagine how much you all need it!

Congratulations to all involved. I have a good friend who had triplets - and then another baby about a year later - 4 children under 2. Somehow, she and her husband survived. The children are all full grown now.
