The grounds are gorgeous but the houses are kinda meh without a lot of work. And, as you point out, a lot of work to maintain. We don't do the kind of entertaining that would allow us to utilize all that outdoor living space.
I've also gotten to the point in my life where I don't really want to be too isolated from neighbors. I like going for a walk and stopping to chat with people I've gotten to know along my walking route. Human interaction.

not crazy about the house, but the ADU would make a perfect office, and the private pond has me sold. I'd go swimming in that water every single summer morning. Much nicer than a pool. Though I wonder if it's a lot of work to keep it algae-free.

Where I sit and have my coffee in the morning looks out on our hiker-biker trail about 15 feet from me, so I see ALL the dogs and owners going by. When on the deck we often have chats with neighbors and friends. It's nice.
Paradoxically, our lot is the most private on the street. We have greenbelt in front and behind, and the closest house to us in 50' away.
You can see the paved trail between the two fences.
