She's almost 70 years old now. We're starting to look like the Politboro.

Like. Very much like.

Buttigieg/Sanders? Hmmmm.

Do you think Bernie would take it?

I have my doubts.

But maybe if he was given a portfolio ...

I think Bernie as VP would bring his base along with him... though I could be wrong, because they could go off on a pouty hissy fit if he wasn't at the top of the ticket.

I don't think he could win the nomination, much less the election. But it's interesting to me that he's becoming more "nuanced" (e.g., pragmatic) on the campaign trail. So maybe he's willing to lose some of his far left fans at this point.

I hate politics, tbh.

I would name Bloomberg but I don't understand him to be running at this point.

Pete B and Kamala H would be my first choices at this point. Not sure who belongs at the top.

I think Warren's wealth tax is really stupid and she is turning into a loudmouth.

I like Biden too.

In the end, the prime directive is getting rid of Orange Boy.

He's not running, but this is all wish list stuff anyway.

Of those who are running the ones I want to hear more from are Pete, Harris, and Booker. Pete has a very compelling bio and a great temperament, I need to see more from him. Friends of mine out west say good things about Harris. Booker can be a bit of a ham at times but he's pragmatic and smart.

Bernie and Warren are toxic AFAIC, Gilibrand has all of Hillary's weaknesses and none of her strengths, Biden I wouldn't personally rule out but I don't think he has a chance in the primary.

All the others are too far down in the weeds for me to have paid any attention to so far. All this could change, of course.

I forgot Klobuchar. Put her in the 'I need to hear more from' category.

Obviously those that keep coming in do not think the others already in are worthy in their minds.

Have we ever had so many run before?

I liked our VP but he should have run before.

Bernie? Is he too getting too old?

Speaking of old, several are older than I wish...but the guy in, and the runners all seem younger with a lot of get up and go.

Am I feeling old myself? Can't imagine the energy needed to run, say nothing of energy to be.

Is she? I would have guessed early- to mid-50s.

Oh, well.

Here’s what I’ve decided my criteria are.

Smart. Good judgment. Heart’s in the right place. Good communicator. Good listener.

I don’t give a crap about experience. No President can be experienced in all the things a President has to do. More important is the ability to learn on the fly, and to hire good people with their hearts in the right place, and trust them to do their jobs.

Klobuchar is out, for me, because she treats her people badly.

I wish the people I know who know Kamala liked her better, but I trust their judgment, and they don’t trust hers.

How about "not a corporate shill" ?

Because that criteria would really narrow the field.

I got my first look at Klobuchar in the town hall. So very boring, and not good at answering questions. She has no chance.

Harris has no idea why she’s running and embraces every proposal anyone makes. Has she said no to anything? Not one original idea floating around in that head.

Inslee is ridiculous. Ditto Hickenlooper.

Sticking with Pete until something better comes along.

And giving up hope for Bullock. What is he waiting for?

Boy, Buttigieg scares me on so many levels. We're from the same tribe dontcha know? But here is where I think he excels:

quote:
But you don’t get elected president by whining about unfair attacks. You get elected by beating them back.

I think he's got what it takes to beat them back. But the whole idea makes me feel vulnerable--I know! Weird huh? We're such an easy target.

The quote is from this article: How To Choose the Most Electable Democrat in 2020

So with that in mind, I think Mayor Pete is still my first choice with VP Harris.

If that doesn't work out, maybe Biden (I know, but we all have our contradictions don't we) and VP Harris or Booker.
