I enjoyed this a lot.

Only slightly related, but this reminded me of the time when there was a huge restoration at the Mission San Xavier del Bac. There is a local, residential couple who were trained in restoration (in Spain; the wife is Spanish), but there were also many other restorers who were involved. It was a truly international event.
