An Orange County icon is gone. One of two WW2 blimp hangars - the North one - caught fire and has burned to the ground.

Kind of a shame, although the north hangar was in such bad shape it was going to be torn down anyway. It was framed in wood in the interest of expedience in the early 40’s and was so large it created its own weather. Clouds would form in the upper reaches and that moisture eventually rotted it all to hell.

The southern one is in slightly better shape for whatever reason. There have been various proposals to repurpose it but none have been approved.

With any luck it will be restored before it burns too.
