Tear out the carpet, paint the place, haul everything in it to the dump, including the appliances. Pay some kid to scrape paint off of the windows. $5K, maybe. As is he is looking at a reduction in sales price of $20K or more.

I didn't watch your video but my sister sent me the property listing for this house a couple days ago. Apparently there is a freezer full of meat in the basement that has not been plugged in in over a year. Oh wow, I watched the video. It's probably even worse, bc it's not just the cosmetic (and light structural) damage inside... So, apparently the tenant had the roof replaced (by lying and saying she was the owner). The real owner found out about that when the roofing company started asking for payment. Apparently the roof install is really bad. Also, there's wood rot around all of the windows outside. Ugh, I cannot imagine wanting to buy that house unless you could get it for about 25% of its potential worth, fix it and flip it and get a huge ROI. But even that would be sooo much work. What a nightmare.

Unless that roofer filed all of his required notices he can pretty much go pound sand. My guess is he did not and he'll be lucky if he doesn't get sued for the damage he caused.

I am with Steve...a great deal of the damage is pretty fixable...paint over it patch a few holes and call the junk hauler for the fridge. It could have been so much worse..In the last economic crisis, I was in real estate!  Tenants removed kitchens, took out copper pipes from the walls.. I previewed one house...heard a squishing sound as I walked the finished basement...and found lichens growing on the walls... The homeowner who had been foreclosed on, took the garden hose and and put it thru the basement window and turned it on on his way out.
