Several years ago I had the privilege of attending training with Kevin Cameron, who is an expert in threat assessment and trauma response - specifically as it relates to school shootings and similar events. One of the things he said was that video games don’t cause violent behaviour. What they do is provide a rehearsal space for people who are intending to commit these acts. In other words, they aren’t going to determine whether someone will shoot a bunch of people, but if they are already planning on doing it then they are likely to play violent video games in the lead up to the act.

Nature, meet nurture.

I'm insulted (as should most people be) that Trump is trying to put this on violent video games.

There are also violent video games in every country. Why is it that they only cause gun violence in the USA?

yea...the graphic in the Vox article shows that big time. I tried to embed it but couldn't. I just put the link inline if people want to click on it instead of having to go thru the Vox article.
