Do prospective college students often apply to so many places?? I often see memes with "disadvantaged" kids getting accepted at a dozen or more places...

With the common app, you only need to fill out one application and one FAFSA. However, many schools also require additional applications and most require some form of essay, if not more. Still, it's a lot of work to apply to that many schools, even if you're reusing essays. I'm assuming he got his application fees waived.

Nina, I'm thinking few to no interviews were required.
(Yes, it can be a thing for applicants who live within a radius of x miles.)
