The horizontal slots do make it easier to stick a fork in the outlet! For as long as I’ve been alive, I have never seen a 20 amp plug - the kind with a horizontal blade. Oh, and for some reason, this one was installed upside-down. I think it was replaced at some point because it looks different from all of the other original outlets in the house.
