She lives alone on the other side of town. I saw her briefly last Sunday evening. That night, she started feeling crummy. Monday, she had the full-blown experience. She tested negative Monday. She tested positive Tuesday.

I took a few things over to her, left them on the doorstep, got back in my car, and called. She waved from the door.

Doctor prescribed paxlovid. Mrs pj picked it up and took it over yesterday along with an extra comforter and some soup.

Today her fever is down some, but her throat is so sore she can barely swallow.

She is vaxxed and double-boosted - her last booster was in June.

Oh, and she was supposed to start a new job this week. I guess that's not happening.

I’m sorry, PJ. Hope she gets through it quickly and that it’s not too severe.

Ugh - for some, it's like a head cold... One of my friends had "the worst sore throat ever" kind.

It is still so unpredictable how each person's body will respond!

Now we're scared.

She said her ears are very painful and she's been feeling dizzy and wobbly. According to Dr. Guugle, this is a known symptom and can lead to permanent wobbliness and hearing loss.

I told her I can take her to the doctor if she needs to go, but I'm not sure what anyone can do other than to let her rest and see what happens.

Sh!t.

She's pretty sure she either got it during her job interview (two hours, several different people, in a large upscale hotel) or on the bus going to or from the interview. That was last Wednesday.

I’m feeling fine. I’ll test again in a day or two.

We were about six feet apart for about ten minutes and in close proximity for about five.

Maybe an anti-viral like Paxlovid or molnupiravir? The former is more effective but has more side effects. The latter could still help. Should be started within 5 days. Might be good to check with a doctor ASAP to see what they say. With severe symptoms I, guessing they would prescribe it

facepalm

Just re-read your OP……
