All these recent reports, and given that I work on a college campus, makes me wonder if I should get booster shots. I think I got some boosters when I first went to Japan, but that was more than 20 years ago now.

Nope. I don't think you need a mumps booster shot, as long as you've had the two recommended doses as a kid (or an adult). Yes to tetanus and a few others.

Based on my quick google search, some vaccinated people do get mumps, and no one seems to understand why. But your odds of getting mumps post-vaccine are pretty small.
