Another very nice house, particularly if you like cutting grass. The white walls make it a blank canvas and the finishes are decent. The dual vanity arrangement is really odd and was probably installed on the cheap to flip it.

Most of that grass is in the fenced pastures and "mowed" by the horses. The only groomed grass is close to the house and along the driveway outside the fenced area. Big Al

Ow, my eyes..Thought I get it, old horsehair plaster often needs wallpaper to keep it up on the lath..But woo boy...they could have gone more muted. I do like the original historic photo of the house. It obiviously was in better taste back then.

I find this house confusing. Flanking the front door are ordinary white foam core doors for what I assume are closets. But flanking the stair, there are two lovely wood raised panel doors...the all white doors again throughout. And the kitchen? Blah.

This 1917 farmhouse was featured in one of those NYTs real estate articles. It has a great library and some other nice things about it. It's very much the "shabby chic" aesthetic. Apparently the sellers had an entire Instagram account where they documented all the work they did on it. https://www.zillow.com/homedet...456/225697765_zpid/?

In other listings, how would you like to have an all black bedroom? And by all black, I mean the walls and ceilings. I think it might be nice for going to sleep, but not so great for trying to wake up! https://www.zillow.com/homedet...08/2062317744_zpid/? One more. This one caught my eye because the style of house reminds me of some modern houses in Japan, where the lot is super small but they want to have a "big" house in any case. I would imagine that a lot more areas will start having these kinds of homes as "high density" zoning laws start to be come more common. We will stick with our 3.4 acre lot though, thank you. https://www.zillow.com/homedet...208/2065467546_zpid/

Narrow houses like that are common in areas that used to be vacation house places - like Santa Monica and along the Lake here. The lots are very narrow to broaden access to the view and because they originally had little vacation cabins on them. The latest thing in Irvine is three story versions of these. Very popular, but not with old folks. Street parking is nearly impossible.

Ahh, that makes sense! Here's another listing. Check out photo #8 for a pretty piano room (although it needs a bigger piano in there). https://www.zillow.com/homedet...9164_zpid/?mmlb=g,37

Lots of green. Lots of patterns. And dig the ceiling in pic 14!

I thought the piano room was blue, but it's probably green isn't it. I don't mind it, I wrote on PW that it's a nice change from gray on gray-trim with gray-accents, and a little bit of extra-gray to change things up...

I actually meant there was a lot of green in the entire house. I felt like I was in a bowl of mint chocolate chip ice cream...

It's funny because I didn't notice it until you mentioned it, now it's all I see!

“The client said she (and there is no doubt is was designed for the lady of the house) liked green and we used that color on every possible surface. The exception was to be the office but we managed to get some green in there too. Too bad there wasn’t money left in the budget for a desk. We had to pull off of the job before we got to the guest bedrooms.”
