They Really Don’t Make Music Like They Used To

This is really interesting. We're watching the Grammys now. I'm certainly hearing new music that I like, but I do still appreciate the dynamic range that is less fashionable now.

Also watching the Grammys and I agree with MA.

I’d also like to see a return to artists who can stay on key. Dolly I can forgive, but Miley needs go back to school, as does the woman I don’t know who won best album.

Dreadful.

J-Lo’s lip sync was strictly amateur.

Disappointing.

Oh bummer, I missed the Grammys.

I'm not fond of the Eagles so we'll skip that part. But what strikes me is that some people seem eager to blame todays artists for being inferior (they're not) when in fact the culprit is the industry.

I mostly agree with this, except, how would the average listener even know to blame industry? We tend take things at face value, and we assume that what we hear is what the musicians intended us to hear.

It's interesting because it's like we could compare this (what's being done to music) to the photoshopping of models and celebrities. Until people started pointed out all the photoshopping, I think most folks just assumed, yep, those models are that perfect.

(Ok, maybe that's not the best comparison...)
