I played once and went from a stub article about a county in Iran to Hitler in 4 clicks.

Mine was a gimme, because the random article was "National Democratic Party, Georgia." (Not the Georgia in the US, but the one that used to be part of the Soviet Union.)

I hit "Nationalism" to get to "Nazi Germany" and thus to "Hitler." There may have been an even more direct way that I missed.

The only wrinkle was that I had to spend a few minutes on "Nationalism" to find "Nazi Germany." I didn't expect that link to be hard to find at all, since I believe "Nazi" derives from "National Socialist."

It was so hard to find "Nazi," buried as it was under references to things like "anti-colonialist nationalism" and "Jewish nationalism," that I suspected the Wikipedia editors of having certain political leanings. But I was just scanning a long article. Perhaps I simply overlooked the Nazi references that I had expected to be so easy to find.

Abetz --> Otto Abetz --> Adolf Hitler

Otto Abetz, for those like myself who had never heard of him before, was German ambassador to Vichy France during World War II.

Five moves exactly:

Moth

German language

Germany

(Nazi Seizure of Power, directs to…)
Adolf Hitler's rise to power

Adolph Hitler

If I had gone farther down the Germany page, I could have skipped the fourth one.

Anything that has a geographic tie-in or links to any country is usually just one or two clicks from Hitler. Invariably a country entry has a history section, which usually will mention WW2.

It might be a more interesting challenge to find an entry that *isn’t* within 5 clicks of Hitler.

I figured the same, jon, but I keep finding mentions of countries or of WWII that are not links.
