It is indeed Pompeii and Mt Vesuvius. We were traveling between Ischia and Rome on our holiday and decided to take a trip down to Pompeii. As we were walking up to the amphitheater we noticed the vineyard and wandered over to have a closer look. That tree came into view, with Mt Vesuvius in the background. Quite the photo op! I could just imagine standing at that spot in Ad 79, watching the "show" from the volcano, totally ignorant of what was coming in just a few hours. ![]() ![]() | |||
