I recall members of this group talking about some very intimate details of their lives.
There have been some very personal details revealed.
Now it is lawn furniture. huh

Hmm, maybe we don't need to rust-oleum ours... I'll take a pic tomorrow...

That’s a good point. A lot of people don’t take their patio furniture with them when they move because it’s usually bulky. Craigslist sounds like the hot ticker.

We used to have a patio set with umbrella, glass-top metal table and 4 chairs. The wind blew the table over in a windstorm; it blew the table top to smithereens,

Last summer we bought a simple square table and 3 chairs (black metal) from Costco. I'm sure they're Chinese. They look good so far. We store them in the garage over winter. I guess I should get an umbrella if I want to be serious about it. To be honest, we don't sit outdoors very often, but it's nice now and then.

I agree that second-hand can be a great way to get nice patio stuff. There's a major store here, Fortunoff, that sells very expensive outdoor stuff. Way beyond my pay grade.

This is all helpful. I’m leaning towards metal. Found a nice round table and 6 chairsset on Craig’s list for $200 that I’m going to take a look at.

Went to Target today and everything was cheap and uncomfortable. ( 1 out of 3).

A friend from work said this happened to her twice and that she’ll never have another glass top table.

Whoops--quoted the wrong post.

Meant to quote this one:

Metal small tables and chairs. Round for the middle of the patio with umbrella; smaller squares matching with comfortable matching chairs, bought from craigslist listing from motel. Rain runs through. Easy Peary!

If I relaxed instead of walking and weeding, I'd get a craigslist lounge.

I think we're going to go with this from Lowe's:

Reasonably comfortable, inexpensive, good reviews.

Thanks for everyone's input.

Pro tip: Make sure that whatever you buy is crazy heavy. We have strong enough wind here that our chairs get pushed around the deck.

(We also had a glass-topped table with umbrella shatter when the wind caught the umbrella. You can get an anchor thingy for the umbrella, which worked. But I would definitely fold down the umbrella when not in use, regardless.)

I bought my patio table and chairs from Lowes in Brooklyn several years ago. All metal (except for seats and backs) and it's still in good shape. I especially like the table because the top of it is a metal grid into which you can plop 12" tiles (ceramic, stone, etc.). So I can change the atmosphere of it just by plopping in different colored tiles. There's a special metal tile that came with the table for the center square of the grid which allows the use of an umbrella.

RS, we bought several of that set for the neighborhood clubhouse about 10 years ago. It has held up great.
