Rob and I participated in a fun event today that might interest some folks here! CluedUpp games is a company that runs outdoor, smartphone based scavenger hunt style games in cities around the world. We went to an Alice in Wonderland themed one today. You pay for a team (we paid $52.50 Canadian) and can have up to 6 people on your team (more could totally come along for fun). They use GPS to set up characters around a walkable area of your city. You walk around to find the characters on the map, and they give you hints and tasks to do. None of the puzzles were spectacularly hard, though a couple were challenging enough that we didn’t get full points (and got time penalties on one). Some of them are easy enough that kids could do them. There are no people from the company on site - everything is run through an app - so you don’t have to interact with any people outside of your group. Prizes are based on time to completion, and you have an 8 hour window in which to compete (we took about an hour and a half, but the average seemed to be 2 hours or so). There are 100 spots on the leaderboard and they are all filled, so I have no clue how many people actually participated. Some groups dressed up or had themed tshirts. We did not go that route, though Rob painted my nails in an Alice in Wonderland theme. It was super fun and would be a great family event!
