Yes, but that wasn't what the WaPo reporters brought to the story. They focused on her apologies and her backstory.

Unless I missed it in the WaPo, what's new in the NYT article is that other people are saying she came clean because she was found out.

I think it takes a lot of courage to self-identify as an identity that will make you targeted by hatred.
