I think the answer to that is that they don't know how many.  The Tiger King alone has probably lost several, don't you think? Speaking of which, there was a raid there on May 21: "Nearly 70 protected animals including lions, tigers, lion-tiger hybrids and a jaguar" were removed for violating the Endangered Species Act. They "had been previously cited for failing to provide the animals appropriate veterinary care, nutrition and shelter." Who wants to bet that they haven't lost some of their big cats? I'm afraid to leave the house.

Ridiculous A young guy spent days in a boat with a tiger. No problem. There is a movie to prove it.

Very true, but if there are a hundred tigers in my general vicinity, it presumably means a tiger is more likely to find me. Unless we're in a cage together, just me and one tiger. Then, I would definitely be a goner.

It's way too hot for that at the moment. I'm really curious as to where they think tigers are roaming wild, so I'm hoping there are followup articles with more information.
