jon-nycWhat are you go-to sites for NEW recipe ideas?
I have my standbys, but I’m hoping to find some new hidden gems out there. Tell me what sites you like and why you like them.

Steve MillerI use Serious Eats quite a bit. Kenji can get off in to the weeds in his quest for the best flavors but the recipes always work.
Best get some fish sauce, anchovy paste and a tube of tomato paste before you start. SE recipes are all about umami.

That is exactly what I do! What I have in the fridge, and I see what comes up! And I go with a trusted site, like the ones you mention, and how many stars/reviews it has. Lately I’ve been either doing instant pot or sheet pan meals. I love sheet pan meals. Also homemade pizza dough using my stand mixer and a baking stone and parchment paper. The pizza is fabulous.

CHAS All Recipes and Jamie Oliver's book.
Bob does most of the cooking. Must be a control thing (which I applaud in this instance). Maybe it is a survival thing.

My favorite online cooking is from DoorDash and Uber Eats.

I’ve made recipes from NYT and have saved a few. Even better are the recipes from NYT that I’ve modified with suggestions from the comments. The beef stew recipe I’ve saved that way is the best I’ve ever had anywhere.
The “Smitten Kitchen” recipes look a lot like NYT recipes; solid, repeatable, uncomplicated. “NY deli food” perhaps, and there’s nothing wrong with it. The author sometimes gives suggestions on how to liven things up but in her heart she likes simple, clean flavors. Check out her chicken stock recipe for an example. Her oven braised (pot roasted) short ribs are like that too - no vegetables, just superb short ribs.
She does have some more adventurous fare listed and I’ll be trying some of those recipes as well.

RealPlayerMy usual is The NY Times, but mostly by default since we get the Fti-Sat-Sun physical paper.
Sometimes I try googling with ingredients I want to use, like searching “recipes using _____”
Some sites are full of ads. Others start with long boring paragraphs by the author about the time they were served this wondrous dish at a quaint cafe in Budapest. Or detailing previous attempts that failed. Or family matters. Please, just give us the recipe.
Smitten Kitchen is good. And some veg/vegan sites. Also picked up a few from the WaPo.
I loved how Mark Bittman used to do his food writing for the Times. He would take a single ingredient, say zucchini, and post a dozen simple yet interesting ways to vary it, usually in a sentence or two. I clipped a bunch of those from the paper, but I bet they’re available online somewhere too.
