I recently spent a few days on a 160 ft schooner. It was a knitting teaching gig, but the ship is a sail-teaching vessel, so we could opt to help sail it. Lots of pictures in the blog post. I blogged about it here.

I shared it on FB, but I know not all of you are on FB. It was really fun!

Did you have much wind?

Sadly, no. Some wind the first day, but not enough the next two.

Check out the photos on the blog; it’s a beautiful ship.

Liked the blog.
Motorsailers are popular in the Northwet because the tides are fast and summer winds are light. Motorsailers have sails and substantial engines. Found that myself when I chartered a sailboat there in 1992. We had to motor a lot.

The same schooner is off on a weeklong sail, and they’re having great wind. You never know!

I’m teaching on an Alaska cruise next month on Holland America; it will be a very different experience! I taught on a cruise to New England and Canada out of New York last fall on a Norwegian Cruise Lines ship; that was a huge vessel. Both of these are through Vogue Knitting.
