I use a spurtle for stir frying and sautéing. I use it for making risotto, too. I bought my spurtle from a gentleman in Seattle at the Pike Street Market. Spurtle Really, a spurtle is a Scots kitchen tool, especially good for making parritch. PS: I don’t think your linked picture is a spurtle.

Just looked at your link. Those look nice! I may have to indulge. My spurtle is a right handed spurtle. I got spurtles for my kids, one lefty and one righty. Ours are maple.

I saw the word "spurtle" on my package of Bob's Red Mill Steel Cut Oats but had no clue what it is. ![]() Now I know!
