Didn't Yamaha do something similar? I seem to recall an unconvential back on "The Silent Piano" sold in the U.S. I think it was designated MX-something-or-other.

Then you're in luck. There's one of exactly that model at Maximilliaan's in NYC. To my eye, it was a bit better for color than the one shown above from Steinway Hall. (I really liked that case myself.)
