I recall reading somewhere that the typical replacement hammer set is cut into about 100 pieces and the technician may toss out a couple from the middle as well as one end or the other to get the sizes he or she wants for a specific piano.

Do production hammer sets have any gaps, like skipping a few when you move from the 2-string to 3-string unisons?

I'd be curious how that curve looks after a tech finishes what the factory started.

(Meantime, I'm positively sick of looking at such charts and making them. I'm actually working for a change. Blink WhoMe Frowner. I'm determined to wrap up my last edition of a very boring chemical engineering textbook and telling the publisher this is it for me. Sixteen editions of an 1800-page book is enough for one lifetime. One more and I think I'd go completely postal. Smokin' The goal is to start the new year with it behind me--so I don't have to return the advance--since I already spent it. Yes So I might be scarce around here until after the holidays. Except for short breaks. This is my end-of-a-20-hour- workday break. Good Night)

I tune a bunch of pianos that are draped - I think it works with some decor. (Not sure I like this one, though.)

That one looks dangerous, like some ornate and malignantly bright tropical insect or reptile. The coloration and "armor" say, "stay away."
