WTF 16th Anniversary Party - April 18

Folks, WTF’s anniversary is coming up.

Technically WTF was established on April 19, 2005. But the coming April 19 is a Monday. So I’m thinking maybe we just celebrate one day earlier on Sunday April 18, let’s say 4 PM Eastern, 1 PM Pacific time. I will host it on Zoom, and hopefully this is the last WTF party we do virtually because after that hopefully we will achieve herd immunity and can get back to having in-person parties.

What say you? Any interest in joining the virtual WTF 16th Anniversary Party on April 18th?

I like the idea, Ax.

As I recall, there were difficulties in sharing piano music via Zoom when it was first attempted. Maybe you can share what special provisions/setting are needed to make this successful before the actual anniversary party.

Can we broadcast this idea to all forum members in some fashion (maybe a broadcast PM)? I know many don't visit with any regularity, but seeing old friends is part of the fun of piano parties.

IIRC, we had two Zoom parties and for the second gathering I think Ax figured out what settings needed to be modified to support sharing piano music.

Have attended two piano parties of a local group.
Audio is fine.
Planning to attend.
Some members of that group have bought nicer mics and done some prep to get good recordings.
Recordings are played after the performer does an introduction stating what is going to be played.

Pants optional, as long as you remain seated for the duration of the party.

Sounds good but catch me later. April 19 seems so far away. I am a Zoom novice, unfortunately.

And I have been practicing one piece for the entire COVID year, so that’s probably what I’ll play.

Thanks, folks, April 18 it is, nominal start time of 4PM Eastern, 1PM Pacific.

I will post Zoom audio setting recommendations later for those who want to share music. The actual Zoom link will be posted one day before the party.

In the meantime, feel free to reach out to old WTF regulars who haven’t been here lately. I will be doing some of that myself, but I don’t necessarily have alternate means to contact them so there will be people I cannot reach that hopefully you can.
