Lost my mother. Finished raising my last-born and took her to college in the Big Apple. Acquired three grandchildren. Left my home of a quarter-century to attend grad school in the murder capital of the country, aided by Quirt in choosing an apartment with a fabulous view of Philadelphia and a minimal chance of getting killed on the sidewalk outside. Got lucky when Quirt decided he liked me. Finished grad school and took my dream job in Oklahoma. Married Quirt, who graciously agreed to join me in Oklahoma. Published seven mysteries and a book on mathematical literacy. Published a ton of shorter pieces highlighted by a couple of articles in The Atlantic, which totally happened because Quirt said, "You have a point-of-view and you should write for someplace like The Atlantic," which made me laugh out loud until it was true literally a month later. Was seized by a research interest in Agatha Christie's work that took us to England to visit archives of her papers and not incidentally, to meet her grandson, all of which has resulted in an invitation from a major press to edit the first handbook of Christie scholarship. So much for getting to rest sometime in the next decade...

Spent a bunch of time speaking at education events. Changed jobs to become a classroom teacher (again). Sent the kid to college. Geez. There's so much I've tried to forget about the last ten years. Divorced. Mother died. Worked in Moscow for a couple months; wish it had been longer. New job one rung up the ladder toward the source of all goodness; in way over my head for the first couple years. Shacked up with a woman who turned out to be like my ex, but worse. Visited Auschwitz. Completed program to get TESOL certificate. Started dating a woman who is kind, honest, responsible, resilient, and has good grammar; married exactly one year later. Organized and ran an industry conference with over 500 participants. Burglarized twice in one year.

I did know it was called the Queen City. Are you still working on the novel? This is fascinating, because I remember reading about most of these sentences you all are writing on our forum.

Exactly, Jodi. Our little group has been through a lot, both good and bad, and this place has remained as an area to chat and maintain friendships. That's pretty cool.

Recovering from the banking crash and unemployment, worked for seven companies in eight years. The household I grew up in, (father mother brother) have all passed. Got 2 1/2 kids through college (with the last half looking promising). Had several videos of me performing the Lindy hop scattered around the Internet, now thankfully pretty well hidden. Retired from the financial services industry, triggering a 25% rise in the stock market. Moved to Reno, Nevada, and learned that I love winter weather when served in moderation. Bought a bicycle, and I’m now up to at least my middle school level of proficiency in riding. Learned to play a recognizable version of The Entertainer by Scott Joplin on the ukulele, but suspect that the Mapleleaf rag is out of my reach. Spend time thinking about things like the estate planning: like, do I put by chipotle reward points in a trust? did not become one of those overachiever types who need 10 entire lines to describe their decade.
