An apology
A couple weeks ago, I posted a thread that suggested a connection between tornadoes in the Midwest and global climate change. I posted this based on one article I had read that said that tornadoes were becoming more prevalent and more severe in the past decade and identified global climate change as the cause.

A couple people challenged this assertion.

I looked for additional articles and research on the topic. I also have a relative who is in climate science at NASA. While scientists are nearly unanimous that many weather phenomena, especially hurricanes and smaller storms, have become more frequent and more intense over the last decade, there is no such consensus about tornadoes. The pattern is that tornadoes have been moving farther east - Ohio and Pennsylvania are seeing more than in the past. But a key ingredient to forming a tornado, windshear, does not seem to be affected by global climate change.

Several climate scientists say that this eastward shift may be caused by global climate change, but they are far from establishing the causal relationship as there is with hurricanes, glacial melt, sea level rise, drought, and so forth.

So, to WTF and the world at large, I apologize. I read one article that supported my position that people are denying global climate change and the human activities that cause it at their own peril and at the peril of all future generations. And based on just that one article, I posted a possibly spurious link between global climate change and the obvious evidence of damage caused by a massive tornado system.

I was wrong.

I'm sorry.

I'll try to do better in the future.

Individual one needs to read your post. And how to explain a mistake in thought.

The apology wasn't necessary, but it was most thoughtful.

It's all good, PJ. Like wtg said, no apology was necessary but, thank you for stepping up.

Also glad to see you back and it's a good thing jon did a strike-through text, or he would have been wrong, right then and there. Big Grin

As jon said, you've set a pretty high bar of principled interaction for the rest of us to meet, PJ.

OTOH (not that it was required of you) perhaps jacking up our average decency level is a good thing overall.

Dunno. I read a number of other articles from seemingly credible sources who reached the same conclusion.

Apology may be premature.

Dude, what does it feel like to be wrong?

I . . . I've just never experienced it, so I'm curious.

Well jeez...somebody has to be wrong or we’d have nothing to argue about.
