Some folks have been posting about making masks, etc. Please share what efforts you hear about, small or large.

Mayor Lori Lightfoot announced that a couple of hotels are going to be converted to isolation and quarantine spaces for people who are waiting for test results, or who just need a place to be sick away from family and don't need to be hospitalized. 1000 rooms by tomorrow; 2000 by the end of the week.

Illinois' Gov Pritzker announced the state is partnering with two industry associations, Illinois Manufacturers Association and the Illinois Biotechnology Innovation Organization to get supplies. These groups are coordinating donations from various sources.

2.5 milion masks to be delivered in the next couple of days.

Also working with the IMA and IBIO to figure out how to ramp up production in Illinois companies. Also working to convert production to making critical supplies if possible.

Pritzker talked to Trump and told him that Illinois is bidding against FEMA and other countries for ventilators. Trump asked "what do you need" and Pritzker gave him some numbers of what Illinois needs. Trump said he'd see what he could do.

State is looking at hospitals that have closed down to see if they are in good enough shape to be brought back up again quickly. There's one in the town I grew up in that shut down not that long ago; bet they'll be looking at that one.

The town next door to me.

Little Free Libraries turn into Little Free Pantries. It's a video.

Not local to me, but I love the mystery mom idea.

As the novel coronavirus pandemic disrupts all facets of life, communities across the world have shown that kindness still exists.

In Severna Park, Maryland, a mystery resident has left bagged lunches outside a busy roundabout for "anyone who needs it" every day at 11 a.m.

A sign left with the bagged meal reads: "For anyone who needs it: I will be leaving some healthy sack lunches on this table for you if you are hungry and need to eat. Made with love by a neighborhood mom in a clean and sanitized kitchen. I will leave this table up from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m."

Kimberly Gussow, a local parent, said she grabbed a bag for her 7-year-old son and found inside a ham sandwich, fruit snacks, an orange and an apple.

Columbus-based Battelle and Ohio State University’s Wexner Medical Center announced Monday that they had created a quicker test, which could have results in five hours. UC Health opened its own testing line Monday for the novel coronavirus.

Private labs are taking much longer because of the influx from states across the nation.

We have a local "maker's space" a hodgepodge of pottery, woodworking, and engineering hobbiests.

They have a 3D printing shop and organized to print masks with replaceable filters. They have put out the call to all locals who have printers and materials as well as those of us with elastic.

A local hardware store has donated the filter material.

The masks are reusable with sanitizing, just the small filter needs replacing. Our local hospitals had asked for them a week or so ago. Pretty cool.
