I spent quite a while shopping around for an online-only savings account. I tried about six different outfits before settling on American Express. They had one of the highest rates and the best interface.

For the past couple months, about every other week, I get an e-mail from American Express Personal Savings telling me the interest rate on my "High Yield Savings Account" has dropped again. This week, it's down to 1.3 APY. They always follow that with saying that their rate is still ten times the national average.

*sigh*

At least it's not negative, right?

.01% is not unusual.

1.5% would be good for that type of account but 1.3% isn't bad.

Just saying.
