CindysphinxTrump's "Platinum Plan" for the Blacks!!
Did you hear the news? Trump is making a pitch for the black vote, calling it the "Platinum Plan," and that man is dialed in to the needs of our community.
He's gonna make Juneteenth a *National Holiday!* Did you hear that, black people? We'll have the trifecta: Black History Month, MLK day, and now Juneteenth!
What makes this such a huge win is that Trump had never heard of Juneteenth until his ill-fated Tulsa rally that killed Herman Caine.
I wonder what Herman -- God rest his soul -- thinks of going Platinum? I guess we don't have to wonder. Herman will definitely tweet about it.
What makes this so very appealing is that Trump announced it 30+ days before the election. He's had almost four years to roll it out, so I'm sure it will be detailed and well-considered.
Man. That is insulting.

QuirtEvansHe didn't focus on anything that might attract voters outside his base until after Labor Day, when he seemed suddenly to realize that he might lose. All of a sudden, we have meaningless and toothless health care pronouncements, Platinum plans, $200 prescription cards for Medicare ... he's throwing anything he can think of against a wall and hoping that it sticks.
And, sadly, for a tiny but perhaps determinative slice of the electorate, it might.

LisaSo old people get $200 drug cards and black people get Juneteenth. He's really going all out.

NinaHe rolls out those $200 medicare cards... jeez. You know it will say "this is from Donald Trump to YOU..."
And $200 isn't going to go far for prescription medicine nowadays.
AND it's a political/election year campaign stunt funded by all of us.
AND is it even illegal? Can the president unilaterally change how medicare money is distributed? (Off to google the last point...)
As a geezer, I'm insulted.
Edit:
NPR's takeNot surprisingly, it wasn't vetted, it may not be legal, even if he or his minions can dance around and get the cards sent, that's not very likely to happen before the election.
In other words, it's a stunt.

CindysphinxAnd if you're black, your $200 card comes with a confederate flag carrying case.

With a little noose for a drawstring.
